[00:00.38] Unit 99 Do Actions Speak Louder than Words? [00:06.17] Our society is fast paced. [00:08.56] We are all rushing from one place to the next. [00:12.08] Honking our horn at slow drivers ... people who may be singing songs in the car with their children or pointing out some interesting sights. [00:21.25] We do not have time for that silliness today. [00:24.36] But we try to convince ourselves that we will make time for" fun" tomorrow. [00:29.47] Our children say," Mommy watch me!" over and over again just to get our attention. [00:37.08] It is time to take a few deep breaths and think about actions and our words. [00:42.47] Do they display the attitude that we want to convey? [00:47.27] Have you ever really thought about the phrase --" Actions speak louder than words"? [00:53.16] Think about it now. [00:54.50] I have and do not agree with it 100%. [00:59.03] If you say one thing and act in an opposite way, ill the words be ignored and just the actions remembered? [01:06.55] I do not think so. [01:08.56] It is important to have your words match your actions. [01:12.48] It is also equally important to use words to show appreciation, love, approval and happiness and then follow those words with a hug, [01:23.16] pat on the back or smile. [01:48.51] Mean words can hurt for that moment and for a lifetime. [01:53.43] I am sure that each of us remembers a time when a sibling, a teacher, or a friend made an unkind comment. [02:09.59] When was the last time that you hid a" love" note in a lunch box or in your spouse's coat pocket? [02:17.18] If you want to see a bright smile, that will do it! [02:36.10] We are role models in everything. [02:39.05] It is really hard for a child to believe that it's not OK to do something that you do. [02:45.15] Take smoking. [02:46.48] Most children who smoke at a young age know a parent or close friend who smokes. [02:53.06] is not it strange that a parent who swears a lot usually has a child who swears a lot too? [03:00.21]" I do not know who taught her those words?" Parents are powerful beings and it is important to value that power and pass on positive role modeling through action and words. [04:11.01] Mark Twain is right, it has been a month and I still feel the positive effect of those 3 little, [04:44.24] but very powerful words.
