Woody Allen has signed a deal with Amazon Studios to write and direct his first television series.

Untitled Woody Allen Project will be a half-hour series and already has a full-season order from Amazon. The series will be distributed via Prime Instant Video, Amazon's streaming service.

"I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that [VP of Amazon Studios] Roy Price will regret this,” Allen said in a press release announcing the news. The company didn't say when the show would become available.

Allen, however, comes with a large dose of controversy. Accusations of child molestation by the legendary writer and director resurfaced during last year's Golden Globes. Allen had been honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award, leading his former partner Mia Farrow and her son Ronan Farrow to tweet about the accusations. Allen was originally accused of the acts by his adopted daughter Dylan more than 20 years ago. Charges against Allen were filed, but eventually dropped. Allen has vehemently denied the allegations.
